Joost, seen from your output, this should solve things...
The docbook-xml deb will add the PUBLIC identifier to
your catalog file... and jade will then find and use the XML DTD.

To be complete, the DocBook DSSSL stylesheets can be downloaded
from:

  http://nwalsh.com/docbook/dsssl/

For use with (Open)Jade. Several export formats among which are TeX (PDF via
pdfjadetex) and HTML.

And the XSLT stylesheets for DocBook XML:

  http://nwalsh.com/docbook/xsl/

These should partially work with Xalan and Saxon (two XSLT processors).

I will add this information to the README.
