Well, yes. There is an alternative vbars.pl (by the author of ploticus)
which you could include. I'm a bit surprised that he hasn't released a
fixed version yet.

Anyway, I have attached the vbars.pl he sent me. BTW, this bug merely
causes some bars and numbers to appear wrong. It's not a fatal bug like
what you experienced. It's a bit hard to say what goes wrong from here.
Perhaps if you un-gag ploticus (in the Lire source file that calls it) you
can get some extra info.
