Problem With Spaces

I have just identified a problem with logreport if a client downloads
(FTP in this case) a file with a space in it.

It reports "am" as the username rather than username.

ftp://210.117.186.121/i am sam/I%20am%20Sam%20CD1.avi username
DEFAULT_PARENT/proxy.homelinux.org video/x-msvideo

What is the best way around this?
