No start has been made yet.

I believe the biggest challenge is to define a DLF format which works
for most known email logfiles. That's actually more a design than an
implementation problem. Once the DLF format is there, the email DLF
convertors would need to get adjusted:
/etc/lire/plugins/{postfix,sendmail,exim,qmail}_init and
/usr/share/perl5/Lire/Email/{Postfix,Sendmail,Exim,Qmail}DlfConverter.pm
. (Beware: none of the email convertors use the new Perl module based
plugin mechanism yet. Therefore, you'll find
{postfix,sendmail,exim,qmail}2dlf; not the files mentioned.

Furthermore, the report specifications in /usr/share/lire/reports/email
would probably need adjustments.

IIRC some of the things needed were mentioned in the earlier posts too.

Of course, there could be a migration path where just one convertor is
migrated first. Call the new email DLF format(s) "email2" or something
like that.

They surely make sense! The current email 2dlf convertors are much too
complicated. Once a new DLF implementation is there, it'd be much
easier to add another email logfile format.

That'd be really great!
