deferred means there was a transient error when the server tried
to deliver the email. In those case, the email server will try to 
redeliver the email later (up until a configurable time limit). 
Common errors of this kind are: host unreachable (network problem), 
the hostname couldn't be resolved (DNS problem), etc.

bounced means that the email was bounced because of an error. The exact
cause of the bounce can only be found out by "grepping" the log file
with that keyword. (This also apply to the deferred case.)

I grant you that our "anomaly" analysis in the email superservice could
be improved a little.
