Did you download lire-1.2.1.tar.gz, or lire-1.2.1-2.noarch.rpm?

It should give at least _some_ output, indeed.

Are you sure you've got

 LR_LOGGING=stderr

in your /path/to/etc/lire/defaults.local?

Please run

  /path/to/lr_check_prereq txt

/path/to probably is /usr/lib/lire/ (or /usr/local/libexec/lire/ )

Instead of `txt', you can try one of docbookx html html_page xhtml
xhtml_page pdf rtf excel95.

You can take a look at the config.status file which got created by
running ./configure (if you've installed from source). Probably some
needed stuff was not found on your system. The file
/path/to/etc/lire/defaults gets created using info from config.status.

Hope this gets you going.
