And you also have

 LR_DEBUG=1

in defaults.local?

Is this the _exact_ output you get?

The output I get, from lire-1.2.1.tar.gz, is:

 hibou at gelfand:~% ~/logreport/libexec/lire/lr_check_prereq txt
all all UNSET lr_check_prereq info started with txt
all all UNSET lr_check_prereq info no specific requirements
 hibou at gelfand:~%

I get

 hibou at gelfand:~% ~/logreport/libexec/lire/lr_check_prereq html
all all UNSET lr_check_prereq info started with html
all all UNSET lr_check_prereq info required for html: xslt docbook-dtd docbook-xsl tar
all all UNSET lr_check_prereq info stopped
 hibou at gelfand:~% ~/logreport/libexec/lire/lr_check_prereq excel95
all all UNSET lr_check_prereq info started with excel95
all all UNSET lr_check_prereq info required for excel95: excel
all all UNSET lr_check_prereq err Excel95 output format isn't available: missing Spreadsheet::WriteExcel perl module.
all all UNSET lr_check_prereq err Please install the Spreadsheet::WriteExcel perl modules from a
all all UNSET lr_check_prereq err local CPAN mirror. Consult the Lire User's Manual for more
all all UNSET lr_check_prereq err information.

I've found this:

 s%@PATHTOPLOTICUS@%no%g
 s%@HASJADE@%no%g
 s%@HASPDFXMLTEX@%no%g
 s%@DBK_XML_DTD@%%g
 s%@PATHTODBKDSSSLPRINT@%%g
 s%@PATHTODBKXSLXHTML@%%g
 s%@PATHTODBKXSLXHTMLNOCHUNK@%%g
 s%@PATHTODBKXSLHTML@%%g
 s%@PATHTODBKXSLHTMLNOCHUNK@%%g
 s%@PATHTODBKXSLFO@%%g
 s%@HASDIA@%no%g
 s%@HASCONVERT@%no%g

You miss some tools (or Lire's configure just couldn't find them).
However, Lire should behave sanely under these circumstances, and give
you an informative error message in case Lire needs the tools. (You
should be able to generate plain ascii reports.)

This is getting pretty weird....

You could also run this:

 /bin/sh -x /usr/local/libexec/lire/lr_check_prereq txt 2>&1 | less

and inspect the output (or mail it, gzipped).

BTW, you seem to run the lire scripts as root. You are strongly advised
not to do this.

What output do these commands

 martini:~/mylire # id -u
 martini:~/mylire # id -ru
 martini:~/mylire # /bin/sh --version
 martini:~/mylire # which lr_run
 martini:~/mylire # lr_log2report -v

give you?

I'm getting more and more curious about what is going on here...

Bye,

Joost
