Yes, it does look something like that. I am able to duplicate your
erroneous behaviour of ´su lire lr_run lr_environment´ if I first
deliberaty ´chmod 700 /usr/share/lire/defaults´ for instance.
Which makes me wonder about the file/directory permissions in your
installation ... could take a look at for instance the above dir?
You can also run ´rpm --verify lire´ to check the complete lire package
install. If you find a lot of erroneous permissions, you can fix them
by de-installing and re-installing the package (leaving open the
question of how they got in the wrong state ...).
