Great! It's always nice when you can solve problems by yourself.

As for the requirements: perl DB_File and Berkeley DB are only required
by the lire anonymizer (recommended when you use the on-line responder,
but not necessary for a local installation as far as I know).

All requirements are listed in the INSTALL file contained in the .tar.gz
file. I don't know whether you installed Lire from the tar.gz or with an
rpm package; in the latter case, the dependencies are stated in the rpm
header (but the rpms are tailored towards RedHat/Fedora/Mandrake, so perhaps
they are not directly usable on a SuSE system).

Except for the Pod stuff (which sounds like it should be included with
every perl distro) these are all listed in the Requirements section of
the Lire INSTALL file which I mentioned above.

That is likely indeed, things like xml and sqlite2 support tend to become
standard on newer installations.
