This very likely is a bug in the interaction of the ncurses-5.4-13
package shipped with Red Hat EL 4 with the Curses::UI Perl module you're
using.  I don't think it's a Lire bug.

I don't know much about the software as shipped by Red Hat, so I can't
help you.  If nobody else on this list replies, you might want to ask on
a Red Hat forum.
